Audience-Based Merchandising is here!

We’re excited to introduce one of our most requested features: the ability to create merchandising rules based on customer audiences. With this update, your webshop can instantly adapt its product displays to who’s visiting—making your results more relevant, personalized, and effective.
What’s New
You can now use customer audiences as a trigger inside your merchandising campaigns. This means that anytime a visitor belongs to a specific audience, your merchandising can automatically adjust what they see.
For example, if you’ve created an audience of customers who have shown interest in gloves, you can boost gloves for them across your site—no matter whether they’re browsing search results, recommendations, email content, or chat.
How It Works
1. Choose Your Trigger
Inside a merchandising campaign, you’ll now find two types of customer-related triggers:
- When customer attribute
React to any customer data you already send to Clerk—email, name, subscription status, zip code, gender, and more. - When customer is in audience
Select from all the audiences you’ve created. If a visitor belongs to the chosen audience, the campaign activates.
If you only set this one trigger, your rule will apply everywhere across Clerk: search, recommendations, chat, and email.
You can also limit the rule to specific placements—for example, only on the homepage’s popular items.
2. Apply Your Merchandising Logic
Once the trigger is set, simply add your rules.
For example, you can boost gloves so that every second product in a banner slot is a glove—shown only to visitors who were part of the “Interested in Gloves” audience.
3. See the Personalized Experience Live
When a visitor belonging to that audience returns to your site, Clerk recognizes them and adjusts the product sequence instantly.
